South African spinner Robin Peterson announces retirement from cricket

robin-peterson Robin PetersonFormer South Africa and County Championship spin bowler Robin Peterson has announced his retirement from cricket with immediate effect.

Peterson, 37, last featured for South Africa two years ago and played 15 Tests, 79 one-day internationals and 21 Twenty20s over 14 years playing for his nation.The former Surrey and Derbyshire slow left-armer has been playing for the Knights in South Africa this season but has now decided to call time on his 19-year career, which also saw him play for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League. “It is with mixed emotions and fond memories that I would like to announce my retirement from professional cricket,” said Peterson when confirming the decision.”It’s been an incredible journey with so many people that have supported and encouraged me along the way.

“First and foremost I’d like to thank all my team-mates for all the special memories they’ve helped create along the way, as well as all the coaches that have played a role in my development and as mentors throughout my career.”
