World Standards Day: 14th October

World Standards Day is observed annually on 14th October. The theme for World Standards Day 2016 is “Standards Build Trust”. International standards represent the consensus view of the world’s leading experts in industry sectors ranging from energy utilities and energy efficiency to transportation, climate change and healthcare.
2016 World Standards Day Paper Competition :
World Standards Day began as a celebration of the birth of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), which held its first meeting in London on October 14, 1946.
World Standards Day is celebrated annually around the world to increase awareness of the role that standards play in the global economy.
The World Standards Day Paper Competition is co-sponsored by SES – The Society for Standards Professionals and the US World Standards Day Planning Committee in an effort to celebrate the global importance of standards and to honor selected individuals in the US Standards community.
The 2016 paper competition winners will be announced and given their awards at the US celebration of World Standards Day, which will be held this year on October 27, 2016, at the Fairmont Hotel in Washington, D.C.
