Senior journalist Gautam Lahiri was today elected president of the Press Club of India, Manoranjan Bharti vice-president while Vinay Kumar was elected its secretary general. According to the results for the press club elections, held on October 1, Jomy Thomas was elected the joint secretary of the PCI while Arun Kumar Joshi was elected treasurer. Of the five contenders for the post of president, Mr Lahiri was on first position with 684 votes and P P Balachandran was on second spot with 529 votes.
Vinay Kumar was elected as Secretary General after witnessing a tough battle from fellow contestants. Jomy Thomas became Joint Secretary, garnering 618 votes in total. Arun Kumar Joshi won the coveted post of Treasurer in PCI. Among the Managing Committee members, those who won included Anant Bagaitkar, Anita Choudhary, Aurangzeb Naqshbandi, Dinesh Tewari, Jyotika Grover, Rakesh Negi, Sudhi Ranjan Sen and few others.
